Today I am the Tractor Man

While heading home one day after a conference in the city, I was sitting on the train, facing backwards of all things. We'd just passed one of the busiest train stations and I noticed the traffic was piling up to the side. Now this wasn't a strange occurance, I like people watching and seeing expressions. But this one seemed funnier than normal.

I checked out each person's expression as the train went past, grinned at the last car (Volvo) since I then understood his annoyance. It was the Tractor Guy. You know, you see them everywhere, most of us have been held up by them at some point, the guy on the council tractor, earmuffs on just cruising along doing whatever speed he can go. Now this guy had the requisite earmuffs on, and a cheeky grin. He should have seen the expressions of the people he was holding up! But thats the thing, he's driving a tractor. Tractors aren't the fastest vehicles in the world, max speed is about 65km I think and this guy was sticking to the speed limit. Basically, he was going as fast as he could, trying to keep as much on the shoulder as he could so people could pass, but it wasn't enough for all the people piled behind him. Funny that really, it never is enough when you're in a rush.

I can follow The Tractor Guy though. Ever have those days where you know you're doing the best you can, going as fast as you can and it never seems to be enough for those around you? Well nuts to them I say. I didn't sleep too flash last night, I have a headache, I'm not liking my job too much and today, I am the Tractor Guy. Here's to you buddy. All I need now is the requisite earmuffs to block out the noise from here. ;-)
