People who can't help themselves
Morning gripe for me:
I work on a reference desk a small percentage of the time, and helpdesk phones for the rest of my time and it never ceases to amaze me the people who can't seem to help themselves.
[Scenario]
Student approaches desk: 'Can you tell me where past exam papers are please?'
Me: 'On any of the computers here, there will be a link to it from the very first page you see.' (Indicating on her own computer the screen they will see, where the link is, and what happens when you click on said link)
Student: 'Oh, can you show me?'
At this point I'm tempted to do what they do in movies, the ol' Liverpool kiss with the monitor while muttering under my breath 'gumby'.
I'm not in the mood to help people today, pity I'm in customer service hey?

I know what you mean - I just love the folks who ring up and ask "Are you open?" - Duh! Even saying "I was just checking to see if you are open?" is better than that!
I work in an Academic Library, entrance standards must be low....
