The Stupidity of Intelligence

‘Why are smart people so dumb?’ one of my friends bemoaned via email of me yesterday. Well working on a helpdesk phone I have a theory for this.

The smarter people get, they dumber they become. This is due to the fact that as they get smarter, all the commonsense braincells are pushed aside or killed off by the pompous and arrogant ‘smart’ cells. Space is created for the smart cells since as everyone knows you only have so many brain cells and the smart ones go faster. Now according to that Darwinian theory on survival of the fittest, the slow cells die off and since the smart cells are so much faster, then the commonsense cells get left behind and thus get killed off ie see the alcomahol theory on brain cell degeneration.

Hence why you can have the Head of School for Information Technology call you up complaining that his computer won’t work and upon further diagnosis, it’s because he hasn’t turned his monitor on. Or an expert in structural engineering who makes sure that those roller coasters in theme parks are safe for human use, can blow up a fridge when changing a lightbulb. Super smart brain cells makes them intelligent as all hell but they lose their commonsense.
