The day that was poo
Thursday afternoon, Rom starts the hobbling thing while walking up stairs at work. Seems that while Miss Rom was growing to the gigantic height she is, her joints decided that they would not join the party. Cue the hip joint deciding that fast joint growth would not work and in later life plague Miss Rom with a hip that pops out at inopportune times. So out popped hip, volunteering arrangements cancelled that night so she could just sit on the couch, and there was still no phone call from prospective employer. Nudda, zippo, zilch. At this stage I'm giving up, it's been 4 weeks when they say they would notify her after 3 and no word. Crap.
Friday was a poo day. The whole day stank, as in sucked. I scammed the day off work since there was no way I could negotiate the massive this place seems to have and all the stairs, so I hobbled around the place. Reclined on the couch, read my book, all seemed good. After lunch I took some anti-inflammatory stuff to relieve the pain in the joint and fell asleep. Mobile woke me after half an hour. 'Hi, just letting you know you were unsuccessful in your recent application for a job with us. You did make it very hard for us to decide though.'
Well thats a weight off my mind, really. So good to know that while I didn't get it, I made it a tough decision. Great. Thanks. I was half asleep so I wasn't particular phased. When I did wake up, by golly I wasn't too impressed. Thats the second time from these people, so I had my rant to Riffen via ICQ (he was still at work), and then proceeded to ring my entire family who had been hanging on the decision, sms friends who had been hanging on the outcome and then sit down and pour myself a g&t. If in doubt, there's always alcohol.
I was very restrained though, only had 1 until Riffen came home. Afternoon was cruising along until crudola again that night. Huge barney which resulted in bad words said, lots of bad words being said, not very nice stuff (dont want to go into) and an almost break-up. The night sucked, bigtime. I ended up not getting any sleep which made it really bad for the weekend since Token was having a housewarming party the very next day and I wanted to go!
Saturday was strained, really strained, well for me anyways. Ended up being a day of talking and contemplating and working out whether I would have to sell the house since I wouldn't be able to support it on my income. That sure sucked bigtime. All my fruit trees, gardens, hard work, gone. Only to turn tail and crawl back to my folks place for the second time, over my dead body.
So yeah, no new job, and almost no fella, sure bit the bigtime. Still dont know what the dealio was on the fella front, but hey, at least it seems to have sorted itself out.
Oh, and ever want to make a quick buck? Start a swear jar with your housemate. Deal being, for every swear word of choice, ours is the 'f' word, they forfeit a dollar. You can go on a post-it note tally system, but after a designated number of weeks, add up the tally and that equals a dollar amount. They then have to spend the amount of their swearing on you and vice versa. I bought him a small rack setting for his toolbench, grand total $13, and me, well I scored a 12 foot surf rod (fishing for you un-sporty people) and a pair of gold earrings. Total= $150! Yeah, think I aggravated him in the 3 week period. ;-) But looking at that surf rod, it was so worth it.
