Hormonal and Fifi
Hormonal is in town. You might remember her from previous links such as this and this. Yes, older sister, does weird stuff, you'd understand if you're a younger sibling.
Anyhow, after all the recent crapfest between Sponge and the rest of the family, I was looking forward to hanging with Hormonal since sometimes she isn't such a bad chick, weird, but not a bad person. She's just easily swayed by anyone who takes the time to drive up to visit her, 7 hours from the rest of the family. As in, her a allegiances swing to whoever contacts her the most. Man, contact whore she is.
So I offerd to pick her up and take her late night shopping since where she lives (out on a huge farm in the middle of nowhere, with her 1 year old), they have shops, just got running water and electricity too I think, so it was off to the Plaza, apparently we were on a quest for seedlings and some Fifi and the Flowertots merchandise. The show had recently been off the air, and her Pumpkin was having withdrawl symptoms.
Now did you know that Fifi and the Flowertots is a children's program on the ABC every afternoon for kids and has a Flower called Fifi, one called Violet, a Slug called Slugsie (surprise surprise), and a bee called (wait for it) Mister Bumble.
We walked into Mr Toys and Hormonal quickly accosted the staff looking for anything Fifi. There was a playset. She found it, she squealed, she started repeating all the voices of each of the characters. Then put the box back on the shelf and said 'let's go to K-Mart, they will have more'. So to K-Mart we went.
K-Mart yielded the same playset, so Hormonal was set to give up. Now Rom being the good sister/Aunty (all for Pumpkin you know) went in search of more things. I found a Mister Bumble 'with real Mister Bumble scent'(????). Hormonal squealed, she started talking like Mister Bumble, then we found a talking Fifi and listened to all 7, yes 7 boys and girls, 7 things that Fifi says. Hormonal got that voice down pat. But that doll was too expensive too, until she spied the smaller cheaper versions on the bottom shelf. She squealed, she dropped to the ground, she gathered an armful of assorted Fifi friends and Fifi herself and ran through the litany of voices and comments they all make. Right in the middle of K-Mart. My sister, my 33 year old sister was happily rocking on the ground talking in Fifi voices.
Dude, she was talking like Fifi, a toy flower who is apparently a quite forgetful flower and likes cups of tea.
I learnt so much last night about the need for adults to interact with other adults when they have children it was not funny. It was quite scary in fact. Think of me tomorrow when I take her to the ABC Gardening Australia Expo and she spies a lifesize Fif. I'll have earplugs.

Ha Ha! You made me snort coffee out of my nose! Note to Self: don't make any Play School related noises when I visit Rom soon.... Although a trip to the ABC store to search for Play School related items may be on the cards. But I do solemnly swear not to do voices and/or sing songs. Unless specifically requested. then maybe.
