An engaging post
*clunk bang thud*
'Dude, what the hell are you doing? It's 5:30am for gawdsake.'
'Come watch the sunrise with me.'
'Er, did you hear me, it's 5 bloody 30 in the morning, and plus it's cold.'
'Oh come on, I'll make you a cuppa?'
'Oh all right then.'
Mosquitoes were eating my legs, it was indeed quite chilly, more chilly than what you would call 'brisk'. I'm clad in pyjamas for goodness sake, standing on a balcony over looking a quite lovely valley in the Montville area and there is some freaky mist swirliness going on in the valley below. And then the sun started coming up over the mountains, well behind the cabin beside us but definitely over the mountains nonetheless.
'Hey, I've got something to ask you.'
'Is it 'would you like another cup of tea'?'
'Er no, I was actually going to ask if you would marry me. I have a ring and all.'
'Dude, you can't be serious. Oh crap, you are serious. I'm half asleep for goodness sake. Oh, you are definitely serious and want an answer. Oh, ok, er yes, of course. And I can't believe you just asked me that while I'm trying to rub sleep out of my eyes and my hair looks like birds are nesting in it.'
Romantic he is trying to be, romantic I am not.
So it appears I'm an engaged woman. There is a suitably large sapphire and some of those diamondy things that women seem to like on my finger and the ring keeps slipping off, it needs resizing, which is making it annoy me more. Don't get me wrong, I am excited and all, just as from the previous post you would have read last time I did this sort of stuff, it wasn't the best of fun. I don't want to go into comparisons but it's really hard not to (as I try to turn that darn ring around on my finger again). Planning a wedding can be crap, we're talking people bitching about the date you pick, where it's going to happen, who's going to be on the bridal party, why can't great Aunt Sophie who smells quite bad come along even though she is the great aunt of the next door neighbours who of course have to be there since they've known you since you were 2 blah blah blah blah blah.
Well that's a little bit of what it was like last time. This time my little sister is not talking to me already since she wanted to get married before I did the second time, my older sister has *told* me that I'm having her 18 month old as a flower girl, and one of the groomsmen doesn't want it in that month since his motorsport racing volunteer commitments are all booked up for that month, can it be the month before?
I have 2 papers to write and present this year, a TAFE course to continue, 2 lots of volunteering commitments on almost every weekend and every Thursday night, dance classes, yoga and pilates classes and I'm looking at buying a new house and now I have to plan a wedding? What the hell was the boy thinking!?!
But I am excited, honest, on the inside I'm thinking 'wheeeeeee, big party time! and I get to wear a frock and be the princess on the day.' Bridezilla I aint, but let me just get back to the phone conversation I need to have with my Mum about how I'm not happy with the reactions of some people and have a small 'bride to be tanty'. It's every brides perogative I'm sure of it. ;-)
