Book Me!

Meme tagged by Token and honorararararily tagged by Enny for this one. Ooo if I've got 2 tags, I might have to come up with 2 books on each one!

1. One book you have read more than once:
Hogfather by Terry Pratchett and The Girl Most Likely by Rebecca Sparrow.
Now Hogfather, love it because the whole idea that belief fuels the existence of things works for me. Its true really, if you and everyone else ceases to believe in something, it would no longer exist becuase no one believes it exists. See, easy!
Now The Girl Most Likely. If you're a Brisbanite, you will no doubt know each of the places that the character goes to. I started reading this book when I first seperated and the character is the same age I was, except she got to swan in her jammies while I still went to work, but she'd moved back home, got roaringly drunk on many occasions, basically it was my life in the first few months after the split. I did not however shag anyone behind a backyard barbie, perhaps I should have?

2. One book you would want on a desert island:
Ok, cause I'm taking 2 due to being tagged twice, I would pick the first 2 in the Farseer Trilogy By Robin Hobb. What can I say, when you're miserable, someone elses life sure is crappier than yours, and the story of Fitz is just abysmal. I loved the series though since Hobbs writing style was just brilliant, fell down briefly for Liveship Traders but came right back up for the Tawny Man series. What can I say, I'm a sucker for fantasy novels.

3. One book that made you laugh:
The Last Continent by Terry Pratchett and Up the Duff by Kaz Cooke. The Last Continent would have to be one of those books that made me just laugh at how ridiculously funny Aussies are when seen from the outside. Written by a man who comes to Melbourne every year to purchase his t-shirts, it's a good look at our slang, our heritage and the crazy things we do as Aussies. Who ever eats a meat pie floater?
Kaz cracks me up in so many ways, I have laughed so hard recently that I've rediscovered groin muscles and how much they bloody hurt when you pull them. Never mind the fact that I can't fit into pants much these days, at least she gives you a humourous look at some of the incredibly annoying crap that you go through when you're pregnant.

4. One book that made you cry:
Fool's Errand by Robin Hobb. I cried at the end, sobbed so much. And later when I was sitting in Dymocks with the next book in the series reading the last few pages again to remind myself of the storyline, I recried again. Felt silly sitting on the floor of a bookstore crying, but hey, I'm sure they've seen it before.
Other book was 'The Pearl of the Soul of the World' by Meredith Anne Pierce. Aeriel got gyped in a big way. Just for saving the world. Sheesh.

5. One book you wish you had written:
Backyard Self Sufficiency by Jackie French and anything related to Money by Paul Clithero.
Now the Jackie French book I love and if I had written it, then I would hopefully be far more knowledgable now than I am about being able to support myself with what little backyard space I have.
I haven't actually read anything by Paul Clithero, I just wouldn't mind the squidillions of dollars he would have made from writing these books. Cheater that I am. ;-)

6. One book you wish had never been written:
The Discombobulated Theory of Time. Ok, I made that one up, I dont have any specific tomes that I wish had never existed. I'm such a crap Librarian when it comes to trying to get rid of books. Although I do have an issue with Danielle Steele books and the anythign else like those evil Barbara Cartland ones that are pink and have gratuitous romance in them.

7. One book you are currently reading:
Up the Duff by Kaz Cooke and Ashes to Ashes by Tami Hoag. I heart Kaz, she makes me laugh. And Tami, well I just get grossly involved in the story and forget about the rest of the world.

8. One book you have been meaning to read:
Shantaram by Gregory Roberts and How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. Bth of which I dont know why, I have them in my bookcase and think I bought/borrowed them when I thought they were both interesting. Says alot about my future reading potential I think.

9. One book that changed your life:
Backyard Self Sufficiency by Jackie French and Herbs by the afore said lady. With her books she always changes my view of gardening and teaches me more about how I can appreciate the small spaces I have been given to garden and also the plants I plant and what benefits and abilities each have for so many purposes!

10. Now tag five people:
Scorpy, if you haven't already done it, I would like to read more about your reading you've been doing.
Antigone even if you email me the list since I know you dont have a blogger account.
Janina if you ever make it back to blogland.
And anyone else you reads and would like to do this. I'd love to read yours!
