When shit just might work out
Ok, now for ages I've been kicking around with the Discworldian theory that I'm merely a game piece on someones game board. Each day the God's above move these pieces of game board around and throw curly situations at me just waiting to see what I will do. Somedays they've yanked all the pawns away from me and I've got no chance of saving that Queen, but anyways, it keeps life interesting.
For the last few months I've been hoping and praying for a new job, new house, something to just go my way. Somethings seemed to be going right, and some things just seemed like a good ol' kick to the nether regions. First there was possible dream job. Dream job got snatched away by evil external applicant who rated better than me by one point. ONE BLOODY POINT!! Then we saw 'The House'. House got yanked away by some n00b ofering 5k more than us. Then there was the other house. Same story, different scum bags. We gave up. The game went on.
The last house drama included a real estate agent with no idea what their client wanted. (pretty crap game piece I reckon but it was entertaining) We didn't pass 'Go', we didn't collect keys to a new place, we stopped past the tavern and picked up beverages to drown our sorrows, right around the time we picked up a future addition to the hosuehold. House was forgotten, game went on.
Then the game got interesting. Game piece owner from last house turned up at our place one day. He'd had a falling out with the realestate agent and the contract was null and void and by the way, were we interested in purchasing the property directly instead of going through an angent? Bam, from out of nowhere, it was a curveball. After much thought, and research we realised that he was ripping us off by about 30k. House gone once more.
Next strange out of leftfield piece came from another suburb, more beautiful house, lower price and a place that we could both be happy with, and bonus was it was bigger! Someone had smiled on our past poor game form and thrown in a sneaky 'what will they do 'scenario'. We took the bait, looked at house, fell in love with it and found out it was under contract already. Black flagged at the last turn. Although, just when it seemed to be all over red rover, call comes through, that contract had fallen through, would you like to submit an offer? Dilemma, debate, decisions Hell YEAH! Offer went in, just waiting for response, maybe this will be this time?
And as for dream job, future maternity leave curbed my enthusiasm for job hunting, until the best job in the world popped up, fixed term for 12 months. Damn, maternity leave in 5 months, no point applying.
Email comes through from manager of job area 'are you interested in applying?' Hell YEAH! But... 'we should be able to accomodate that since the next few months will be the most exciting', application submitted, call comes through for interview, interview had and very confident. Please please please let this happen for once.
But as with the rest of this crazy game which seems to have become my life, I'll just have to wait for the other pieces to fall...

I think I'm trapped in "Snakes and Ladders" but someone has taken all the ladders away and I can't roll a six :)
